CDACC assessments: how the marks work

Updated 31 Oct 2026

Short answer

TVET CDACC (the Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council) develops CBET curricula and assesses and certifies competence in Kenya. Its assessments are marked against each unit's performance criteria, often using an official weighting document that sets the marks for every criterion.

What CDACC does

The performance-criteria weighting document

For many units CDACC publishes a table that gives each performance criterion its marks. It is the authority on how a paper should be weighted.

One document often covers a whole programme, so pick the right unit inside it.

Two ways InteligentCMS sets the marks

Fair, easy-to-award marks

No question is one big block of marks. Larger questions are split into lettered parts, and practical criteria into small checks — always adding back to the official mark.

Make it with InteligentCMS

  1. Open Formative Assessments.
  2. Upload the unit curriculum and the CDACC weighting document on step 2.
  3. The order summary names the mode before you pay.
  4. Generate and download the pack.

Questions trainers ask

What does CDACC stand for?

TVET Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council, the Kenyan body that develops CBET curricula and assesses and certifies competence.

Why is my paper 50 marks and not the CDACC total?

No weighting document was uploaded, so default mode was used. Upload the unit's CDACC weighting document and generate again to get the CDACC figures.

What if the weighting document does not match my unit?

It is rejected with a clear error instead of being silently ignored, so you never get the wrong marks without knowing.

Can I use these papers for CDACC certification?

They are formative, institution-level papers for practice and progress. Certification assessment is run by CDACC.
