How to write a CBET Session Plan
Updated 31 Oct 2026
Short answer
A Session Plan is the trainer's plan for one session of a TVET unit. It states the session objectives and resources, then a timed table of introduction, teaching steps and recap that adds up exactly to the session length.
Parts of a Session Plan
- Header — college, department, unit code and title, class, date, time, trainer.
- Session title and objectives — what trainees will be able to do by the end.
- Resources — equipment, materials, references.
- Time (minutes) | Steps — introduction, the teaching steps with trainer and trainee activity, then the recap.
- Learning check — how you confirm the objective was met.
Getting the timing right
The minutes in the steps table must add up to the session length — for example 120 minutes for a two-hour session.
Keep the introduction and recap short, and give most of the time to trainee activity.
How many session plans do I need?
One per session. The number comes from the unit's contact hours divided by your session length.
Make it with InteligentCMS
- In Professional Documents, set your session length and hours per week.

Questions trainers ask
Is a session plan the same as a lesson plan?
Yes. In CBET the lesson plan is called a session plan. It covers one session of a unit.
Do the times have to add up?
Yes. The steps table should total the session length exactly, so the plan can actually be taught as written.
Can I put my college logo on it?
Yes. The plans carry your college letterhead or logo above the college name.
Do I get all the session plans for the unit at once?
Yes. One run makes every session plan for the unit, with the Learning Plan and Course Outline.
